Android virus spreads via SMS

"Book a delivery date for your order", the SMS says. The link will however lead you to downloading a new app, and installing it will give a virus control over your phone.

Clicking the SMS link will lead you to a website, as shown in the illustration.

This new cyber threat is spreading rapidly through phones which have been infected, and abuses your own phone and subscription to send itself to new users.

You can however easily identify it, since it specifically asks you to enable "Install unknown applications" in your phone settings.

This is however a case where only Android phones are vulnerable. iOS does not have this ability to install apps from outside the Apple AppStore, where there are strict requirements on which apps are published.

Therefore, only install apps Android through Google Play, and check your settings for apps from unknown sources.
